Thank you Shane. I will recheck the compression tomorrow morning to be sure maybe I made the mistake of reading very low as no compression. Is there any way to clean depisits from the valves/seats without removing the head. I have read about a product called "seafoam" that might do it. I am a bit reluctant to remove the head due to the VVT as I believe a special tool is required to lock positions of the barious shafts.
Hi Shane. Thank you for the response on the VVT solenoid. I drove the car the evening and stopped at home. No loss of power or noises was experienced. Next morning it would not start. Battery is ok. Spark is ok. Fuel feed is ok. With the inlet manofold off the valve stems can be seen operating and they seems ok. There was also no indication of the engine overheating whilst driving. The turbo was blown and we replaced it four days prior to this problem. We cleaned a lot of oil from the inlet manifold and the airpipes whilst replacig the turbo and I am now thinking maybe the valves are carboned up. For the valves to bent the timing chain would have to break or jump teeth. Or am I wrong in my understanding? Regards Danny
I have a clio 4 with 0.9 engine. There is no compression on any of the cylinders. Can this be caused by the vvt solenoid being faulty?

Hi Shane, Hope you are well. I'm thinking of buying a 161 1.6 Cooper D Countryman. Only 42,000 klms on the clock. Anything I should look out for? it's a private sale. I'm selling my 151 VW Beetle 1.2 TSI to buy this, am I crazy going from Petrol to Diesel not knowing what's ahead in terms of penaltys that might be coming down the line for diesel cars ?
