Evan and Lloyd are a credit to the Tesla sales team. From our first visit where it was only an interest to our second where we were nearly ready to make a purchase, their professionalism, warmth and knowledge about the cars was very reassuring. Tesla may not do price negotiations and trade-ins are quite under priced (as with any main dealer) but the quality of service, cleanliness of the facility and sales staff scream high quality service in all aspects. From a sales point of view, this was far superior than J&P (MG,Cupra), Hyundai, BYD, VW who we also visited about EVs recently. The gentlemen at the store got this sale secured and over the line. Top class experience.
They have a long waiting time for service but I was aware of this. i dropped my car off and was offered a lift home by a member of the sales staff as I live in Carrigtwohill which was a nice gesture. I had a vibration which I suspected to be Michelin tyres as I previously had issues with one of them. They isolated fault and replaced two tyres under warranty plus others balanced etc and the cost ZERO. Since 18 months owning car my service expense amounts to cost of windscreen washer fluid. I found staff to be friendly and engaging.
I had no issue with the delivery of my car, but forget this place as a service. After painful hours trying to arrange a service appointment on the app with non English speaking staff, finally I got booked for a tire rotation. 95 euro for a 5 minute task, but hey, this is the main dealer. Just before driving down I noticed that the expected end time of the tire rotation starting at 10:30am is 5pm. I wanted to confirm again with them that it will be done within an hour because I have no more time to hang around the service, so messaged them. I was almost there when I got a new estimate - 150 euro - and no confirmation just a promise that the technician will contact me when works are done. I just cancelled the appointment, it's ridiculous. 150 euro for something other garages do for 25. If balancing is required it's 60 euro max, and you can wait around, no need to leave your car there for a day. I love my Tesla, but with service and road assistance I only had bad experience so far.
My Tesla ownership didn’t last long. Unfortunately, my experience dealing with Tesla was not been satisfactory to say the least… I was searching for cars online in December and found a red Tesla model S 2018 for a good price. I wasn’t sure about going ahead with this due to been a 7 year old model S. However, I then thought what could be safer than buying an older Model S from Tesla itself, right? Putting a deposit on the car online was very easy, but after that everything went downhill. The website indicated that the car location was Cork, however, after inputting my Eircode the system said pick up was available in Dublin. A few days after, I received a call from the Tesla delivery advisor called Jim saying that the car would need to be collected in Cork. He told me there was no possibility of getting the car delivered to Dublin, even for a fee. I asked if it would be possible to collect it on Saturday, no way. Any chance of free supercharger credits due to the inconvenience, not a chance. I asked for the car history and specs and the minimum possible was provided. I asked for more and nothing was provided due to ‘GDPR’. Jim was incredibly unhelpful in this regard. To add, I then called Tesla and a guy based in Sandyford was happy to give me the full specs of the car. I always check the history of a car on sites like Cartell.ie, but I wasn’t going to do it this time. Again, what would be safer than buying a second hand Tesla from Tesla itself? I did it anyway and what do you know - not 1 but 2 alerts came up. No tax since May 2024 and the most worrying one, no NCT since 2022! I queried this with Tesla hoping it was a mistake, but they wouldn’t give me information, you know GDPR. Eventually Jim told me that apparently the info from Cartell, which is provided by the Department of Transport, was incorrect and probably has had the NCT in 2024. I tried to get the car insured with my current insurer but they wouldn’t give me a quote due to this issue. The information they had is concurrent with Cartell that the car was last NCTed in 2022. I tried other companies with no luck. I contacted Tesla again about this and they would still would not give me the information, even though I paid for the car in full by now. How could GDPR be an excuse for something I now technically owned. As a result, I cancelled the order and thankfully I received my money back within 2 weeks. I really didn’t like the manner of dealing with customers by them. I felt that since the moment I started talking with this Tesla rep, I was bothering them and they were doing me a favour on selling me this car. Also hiding the dodgy car history by saying they could not provide information on the car that I bought due to GDPR was very annoying. It would have been better if they were upfront about the car history. I know most people won’t have this issue buying a brand new car from Tesla but be aware if you are considering a secondhand model. For a brand of its nature the experience was so subpar and I do feel I dodged a lemon of a car.
A good selection of vehicles, very knowledgeable sales people and a variety of cars to test drive. Clean showroom with lovely display models.
