Disappointing Experience Despite High Recommendations I'm writing this review to share our frustrating experience at Prestige Autos, which was especially disappointing given the strong recommendations we received from our neighbours and an American Expats group. The Context: We're new to Ireland and currently car shopping. We were upfront about being cash buyers, interested in a manual transmission VW (Golf, Passat, Jetta, or Polo). We checked the website beforehand and saw several VW options, so we made the drive to Dublin specifically because of Prestige's reputation. The Experience: From the moment we walked in, the salesperson made it clear we weren't worth his time. Despite the business being largely focused on automatic Japanese imports (which we understood), we had confirmed online that there were VW models available to view. When we asked if they had any other cars matching our criteria, we were simply told "no"—even though we knew there were more on the lot. The Car We Viewed: The VW Polo we came to see was not as advertised. Issues included: Malfunctioning TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) Tyres over 6 years old A failed NCT Undisclosed damage to the interior and exterior not mentioned in the listing (see images). The Price: At €9,950, it was at the top end of our budget and at the top end of a reasonable price range for an aging Polo. When we raised concerns about the car's condition, the sales team was completely inflexible on price. Yes, the timing belt had been done, but that's the baseline for a well-maintained vehicle—not justification for premium pricing. They offered to resubmit the NCT, but that didn't address the other issues like the incongruous pricing. The Interaction: When we expressed hesitation, the salesperson literally scoffed and said, "Good luck finding anything else with similar specs." I was genuinely confused—what high specs? A sunroof doesn't compensate for cloth seats, no heated seats, manual roll-down rear windows, and 6+ year old tyres. Yes, 135,000 km is relatively low, but on a 9+ year old diesel, that mileage actually raises concerns about DPF clogging and other age-related mechanical issues (including a potential leaking sunroof). We are quite literally seeing a similar spec vehicle tonight from a different trader. The Worst Part: Instead of engaging in a mature conversation, showing us other cars we knew were on the lot, or even just being professional, he completely shut down. No handshake. No "thank you for coming." No gesture to show us out. He sat in his desk and returned to his computer. It was bizarre and socially graceless. Final Thoughts: I've purchased four cars in my life—two of them new from dealerships. This was honestly the worst experience I've ever had with a dealer. Just because this is our first car purchase as new arrivals doesn't mean we won't be high-value customers in the future. The way we were treated was dismissive, arrogant, and unprofessional. I hope this feedback helps the business reflect on their customer service. A reputation is hard to build and easy to lose…
Bought a car here two weeks ago, dealt with Lee, and he was great from the start. They were really quick getting the NCT and VRT as it was a Japanese import. Went back this weekend to get help with programming Google maps into the car and getting an emergency kit for the spare tyre (it was in the boot, I just couldn't find it 😅) and Lee was great again. Highly recommend getting a car here!
I would highly recommend Prestige Autos if your looking for a new car. The customer service is second to none the lads are all very helpful nothing is too much trouble . Great prices & super quality stock in their gorgeous showroom. Car was delivered to me & I couldn’t be happier with it ! Thanks so much Lee & Eddie .
Recently bought this car from Prestige autos, and the trio of Danielle, Eddie and Lee are in my view, the best in the business. Been to a few dealers over the last few weeks & months and some I couldn’t seem to get a vibe for a good deal or anything. These lads looked after me immediately, got my new car on the road immediately and made everything extremely smooth. No stress no worries, these lads did every single thing for me. Their vehicles are significantly better in person than what you see on a picture on their website, if you need a car to start with, upgrade or for a fleet or whatever these lads should be your first choice. Irish market is ridiculous, but for what you get from these lads, you’re making the right decision.
Recently bought this stunning Mercedes a Benz off the lads quality service and a quality car 10 out of 10 I'll definitely be back for my upgrade
