I recently bought a car at MAC'S motors. After viewing it online Tom sent video of inside & outside of car. Liked what I saw paid deposit & arranged to travel from Dublin. He was very helpful and a very honest person to deal with. After sales service has been excellent with some minor issues all dealt with without any problems. I am happy to recommend this company as i cannot find fault with the customer service i received. Kindest regards to Tom and the team at MAC'S.

Best car dealer I've met so far. Fixed my car when under guarantee, and offered me a replacement car free of charge. When the car was beyond repair he gave me another car at the same price. Even refunded me for the road tax. I highly recommend it.

Recently purchased my car from Macs Motors. I travelled from Donegal to put in my old car as part ex as I purchased it from the same place 4 years ago. Well worth the journey. Very polite and helpful staff. Will definitely recommend. Thank you Macs Motors .

Writing this review on behalf of my mother who purchased a car from this dealer in March of this year. I'm sure many customers have had good experiences with Mac's Motors if the car they purchased was without issues but her experience dealing with them was terrible and very like many of the other reviews on here where an issue was found with the car post purchase. The car in question was a Kia Sportage petrol and on inspection everything seemed in order with the car's engine, however the car was burning a huge quantity of oil when driven post purchase. It consumed 1.5l in approx. 1250km. Also, the car's handbrake was noted by us as slack when we viewed the car pre-purchase, Tom agreed to fix this but it was not fixed correctly and became slack again after a few days of use. We brought this to the attention of Tom and requested in person a refund within the 30 day limit per section 23 (a) of the Consumer Rights Act 2022. This request was refused in a rude manner in a discussion that became quite heated. The level of after sales customer service from Tom was well short of what would be expected by any customer. We left the car at the premises with Tom, who requested a chance to remedy both issues. We followed up with a refund request in writing which also was met with a written refusal, again rude in nature. At that point we brought the matter to the CCPC and informed them that my mother's right to a refund per the legislation had been refused both in writing and in person. Tom also tried to claim that the oil consumption was within the manufacturers limits so we requested these limits from Kia Ireland. This information from Kia Ireland proved that the car was consuming oil in excess of the manufacturers limits. Tom in his response to this information stated that he was unsure if the car had been correctly filled with oil prior to handover, despite the fact that he furnished us with a service invoice for a full service on the car before handover. Tom also made an inference to somebody could have tampered with the car's oil level, which of course was totally untrue. Also, we followed up over 2 weeks after handing the car back as to the status of the investigation of the oil burning issue and nothing had been done at that point. At no point was the issue with the car's handbrake addressed by Tom. Tom also offered to sell the car to another customer on my mother's behalf, which she rejected. Eventually Tom conceded to my mother's request for a full refund after about a month of continued written correspondence. However, it was a very stressful experience and involved her having to get advice from the CCPC, a solicitor and other independent car mechanics. It appears as if the dealer's approach was to make things as difficult as possible for my mother to get the refund she was entitled to in the hope that she would give up and just accept the faulty car. In summary, it is expected when purchasing a used car that issues can arise but customers should expect a high level of customer service in that case. The level of customer service offered by Mac's Motor's was appalling in my mother's experience and she wishes to make this known to other potential customers.

AVOID AVOID AVOID To say these people are nothing short of cowboys would be an understatement. I had unfortunately purchased a car from Macs Motors back in July last year. The car gave nothing but trouble from the day we got it. They took the car back on three occasions claiming and promising to fix these problems. When the car was eventually brought back to me in October the car had not being fixed. I contacted Tom McCarthy demanding my full refund for the second time and was told that they were not in a position to refund me on minor issues, which I found laughable as if these issues were minor than I can't see why they couldn't fix them on three separate occasions. I eventually had to get a lawyer involved and it still took months to recoup most of my money. I was currently pregnant and could no longer take the stress of the situation and eventually agreed to sell the car back to them at a loss to myself but at that stage I was just happy to be rid of the car and them. Tom McCarthy even had the audacity to claim to my lawyer that he had not agreed to pay me for fuel and insurance swap over cost and when my solicitor stated that that was untrue and that I had proof in messages he agreed to pay . This is very telling of his character and how he does business with people on my experience with him and after reading more of the reviews on here, something I should have done before ever going near the place. A hard lesson learned. AVOID at all costs
