Volkswagen will sponsor Dublin Pride again this year, which is the first physical Pride parade since 2019, showing its support to the LGBTQIA+ community. 2022 will see the return of the jubilant Dublin Pride parade – the second largest parade in Ireland after St. Patrick’s Day with an estimated 100,000 visitors – culminating in the Pride Festival in Merrion Square Park.
Volkswagen will be bringing oveer the all-electric ID. Buzz for the celebrations on June 25th. The ID. Buzz is being transported over from Germany especially for Dublin Pride, months ahead of its market introduction later this year. It will also be on display at Merrion Square Park after the parade for festival attendees to see it up close before it is returned to Germany. Not only will this be the first physical Dublin Pride parade in two years, it is planned to be Ireland’s first net carbon neutral parade and will introduce a dedicated sustainability zone at the Pride Festival.
Commenting on the sponsorship Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand director Rodolfo Calixto said “We are delighted once more to be sponsoring Dublin Pride this year. A core pillar of our company values is ‘We live Diversity’ as we know that fostering a culture of diversity, equality and inclusion is paramount to an organisation’s success and the betterment of society as a whole.”
Jed Dowling, CEO Dublin Pride, said “We share a commitment with all our partners that Pride is more than a parade, Volkswagen’s continued sponsorship helps us support community events all over the country and well beyond June, we’re looking forward to working together again this year, and we’re excited to see the new ID. Buzz on June 25th.”
