Skoda ENYAQ iV electric SUV details announced

Last winter, Skoda hosted the first international drive of its first fully electric SUV in the small town of Durrow, County Laois. The ENYAQ iV is an exciting proposition for SKODA and it is expected to go on sale in Ireland in the first quarter of 2021. With three battery sizes. Five power variants and a fast charging option for shorter charging times, the ENYAQ iV will offer a range of up to 500 kilometres and strong driving performance.

The ENYAQ iV is the first production Skoda model to be based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB electric car platform, and it promises generous amounts of cabin space, a stylish design and a fun driving experience according to Skoda. Due to the new platform, Skoda’s designers were able to arrange the cabin in an interesting new layout, with a vibrant 13-inch display, high-end connectivity and a range of infotainment solutions.

In entry-level guise, the ENYAQ iV is a equipped with a rear-wheel drive motor. The entry-level model is the ENYAQ iV 50, with a 55 kWh battery. It has a power output of 109 kW and offers a maximum range of up to 340 kilometres. The next model in the range is the ENYAQ iV 60 which is equipped with a 62-kWh battery and it offers an increased range of up to 390 kilometres. The range-topping ENYAQ iV 80 is fitted with a rear wheel drive platform and  a large 82 kW battery which means it has the highest with up to 500 kilometres from a single charge and strong power delivery of 150 kW. The range-topping model can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 6.2 seconds and offers a top speed of 180km/h, which is rather impressive.

The ENYAQ iV can be charged in three different ways. In addition to the conventional 230-volt household plug socket with an AC output of 2.3 kW, it can be topped up overnight at home using a wall box delivering up to 11 kW. This method takes six to eight hours, depending on the size of the battery. DC fast-charging stations with a charging output of 125 kW are the third option. These can recharge the ENYAQ iV's battery from 10 percent to 80 percent capacity in 40 minutes.

Inside,  the driver is shown all of the relevant information through a free-standing, 13-inch central display and there is an optional head-up display with augmented reality. A permanent Internet connection ensures that all information is always up-to-date. With its generous amount of space, and a 585-litre boot, Skoda claims the ENYAQ iV is an ideal car for families and lifestyle-oriented customers looking for an electric vehicle that is both sustainable and suitable for everyday use. The ENYAQ iV will go on sale in Ireland in the first quarter of 2021 and demand is expected to be high for this new model. Prices are expected to be on par with the high-end Skoda Kodiaq model.
