What's the news?
Chevrolet will debut its new SUV, the Trax at the Paris Motor Show next month. This will be the brand's first model to enter the small SUV market and is set to sit alongside the firm's larger Captiva.

Exterior
Front end styling features the familiar large grille fitted to the latest Chevrolet models; with a contoured bonnet to complete the look. Round the back, the rear lights rest on the wheelarches that are more flared than at the front. Styling lines cause the rear doors to bulge slightly; giving the car a muscular stance.

Interior
Inside, there is an abundance of storage space thanks to a 358-litre boot, cubby holes in the centre console and a tray under the passenger seat. While equipment levels have yet to be fully determined, we do know that the higher trim models will get Chevrolet MyLink as standard. This infotainment system includes a seven-inch touch screen on the centre console that works in conjunction with compatible smartphones. As of this winter, MyLink will also feature a satellite navigation app.

Mechanicals
From launch, buyers will be able to choose from a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit, or a 1.7-litre turbodiesel. The 1.4-litre turbo unit puts out 140hp and 200Nm of torque and comes with a six-speed manual transmission. Both the 1.4-litre turbo petrol and the turbodiesel engines are offered with a four-wheel drive system and all cars fitted with manual gearboxes come with automatic stop-start. Safety features include six airbags, Electronic Stability Control and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution as standard.

Anything else?
While the Chevrolet Trax's official debut is at the Paris Motor Show next month, final prices and specifications are still to be confirmed.
