New Toyota Yaris Arrives in Ireland

The new Generation Yaris is arriving to dealerships now

Toyota Ireland has just announced the arrival of the brand new generation Yaris. The Yaris has long been a favourite of Irish customers, and is a model which has enjoyed sustained popularity and a reputation for consistent innovation.

The Toyota Yaris has an impressive heritage as an innovator. The first-generation model, launched in Europe in 1999, was Toyota’s first model to win the European Car of the Year title, and was distinguished by its “big small” character with its remarkably spacious interior. The second-generation Yaris was the first B-segment model to gain a top five-star rating in Euro NCAP’s safety testing programme, while the third-generation introduced hybrid electric power to the small car market for the first time and made further advances in safety with the standard provision of Toyota Safety Sense advanced driver assistance systems.

The latest generation Yaris, has been redesigned both inside and out. Born from a ‘Why Stop?’ attitude, Toyota’s spirit of continuous improvement helped define its new shape, new tech and better performance. Its new dynamic design and an engaging interior will appeal to those who are motivated by stylish looks, a dynamic drive, and those who want a progressive car that has less environmental impact.

The new Yaris is designed for customers looking for an energetic and dynamic style and will appeal to those who want their car to reflect their values. The Yaris’ exterior design concept is defined as ‘Condensed and Agile’- always ready to move and be enjoyed.

Chief Engineer Yasunori Suezawa explained: “I wanted the styling to capture the stance of an athlete on the starting blocks. You can see this in the rear wings and the car’s new proportions – wider, lower and more compact – giving the impression of condensed power.”

The exterior styling amplifies the effect of the condensed proportions with strong character lines down the side of the car that project a sense of forward motion. Powerful front and rear wings add to the overall taut, coherent look and, together with the sculpted door panels, project a sense of agility and the car’s ‘ready-to-go’ character.

The interior design follows a ‘less-is-more’ principle, creating an open and spacious area for the driver and front passenger. High-quality materials can include an innovative felt trim finish for the door panels and, for the first time in a Yaris, a soft-touch instrument panel to deliver a warmer cabin ambience.

The new Yaris petrol has Toyota's most efficient 1litre and 1.5litre petrol engine driving from 5.6L/Km (50mpg) and with low CO2 emissions. It’s the most affordable entry into the new generation Yaris and has a sporty drive, manual gearbox, higher HP and lower CO2. It packages tech spec, design and safety features all for just €19,695, or €157 per month on PCP. In fact customers can upgrade to the new Yaris petrol for only €27 more per month on PCP versus the outgoing petrol model.* The new Yaris petrol is available for test drive and sale now.

Toyota’s recognised leadership in self-charging hybrid technology is built on more than 20 years’ experience.  The new Yaris uses the latest, fourth-generation Toyota hybrid technology and introduces new components that have been engineered to be compact, lightweight and efficient. It also equips the car with its first TNGA engine.

The car’s all-electric EV capabilities have been transformed and EV driving is possible for longer periods in urban traffic. This means drivers can enjoy many of the benefits of a battery electric vehicle, but at a lower price and with no concerns about when or where the battery can be recharged.

CO2 emissions have dropped to as low as 88 g/km with the WLTP combined cycle fuel economy figure from 3.9 l per 100km, which is a 20% improvement compared with the outgoing Yaris hybrid.

These values are unprecedented for a Toyota model and demonstrate the ability of hybrid electric technology to deliver even higher efficiency, without sacrificing performance. Similar to the new Minor-change C-HR, customers will now be able to see the amount of time they are in EV mode in the new Yaris self-charging hybrid, with some of Toyota’s C-HR achieving up to 80% of their journey time in EV mode.

Steve Tormey, Chief Executive of Toyota Ireland commented on the announcement: “We’re delighted to announce the launch of the new fourth generation Yaris with the petrol model arriving in Ireland now and the self-charging hybrid variant arriving later in the year. The Yaris has been a pinnacle of driving innovation since it was first launched in 1999. It has gone from strength to strength, not least in winning the WRC in 2018.

Since its arrival in the Irish market in 2012, the Yaris hybrid has performed incredibly well, and despite it being in its 9th year, it’s still the best-selling car in its segment in 2020. The newest generation Yaris has the most efficient hybrid powertrain and is developed on the global TNGA platform. Following on from Akio Toyoda’s “No more boring cars” statement this latest Yaris shows that with an energetic and dynamic design and the latest self-charging hybrid technology this car will be perfect for customers with an eye for design and a desire to make sustainable choices.

The Yaris petrol is available for test drive in your local Toyota dealership now.
