The new Renault ZOE has arrived in Ireland and Renault claims it is now the most affordable new electric car on the market. Prices for the new Renault ZOE including VRT relief and the SEAI grant start from €26,990, which undercuts comparable electric cars such as the Peugeot e-208, Opel Corsa-e, MINI Cooper SE Electric and Volkswagen e-Golf.
Renault also claims that the Renault ZOE offers up to €9,000 in savings compared to other long-range electric cars. The brand defines a long range electric car as one that is able to cover 380 kilometres on a single charge, and the Renault ZOE Z.E 50 falls into this bracket with a range of between 383 kilometres and 395 kilometres depending on the version. Renault points out that as of the end of March 2020, the next most affordable electric car with a range of over 380 kilometres is the Kia e-Soul, which has a range of 452 kilometres and a starting price of €35,995 including VRT relief and the SEAI grant. In the €9,005 price gap between ZOE at €26,990 and e-Soul at €35,995, the next-highest range electric car is the Peugeot e-208, offering up to 340 kilometres range from a single charge.
