Electric Lexus UX 300e goes on sale in January

The new electric model leverages Lexus’ experience in building over 1.7 million hybrid vehicles since 2005

Lexus Ireland has revealed that its first all-electric vehicle, the UX 300e, will be on sale in Lexus retailers from January 2021. Powered by a 54.3 kilowatt-hour high-capacity battery, it offers up to 305 kilometres of range from a single charge.

The UX 300e has been developed for on-road performance and it boasts a low centre of gravity with the motor and battery located underneath the vehicle body. This results in more space for drivers and passengers and 367 litres of boot space. The UX 300e also keeps outside noise to a minimum for a relaxed and more enjoyable driving experience.

Leveraging Lexus’ experience in building over 1.7 million hybrid vehicles since 2005, the UX 300e also includes a newly developed lithium-ion battery. The 54.3 kWh battery can achieve 305 kilometre range on a single charge and the batteries are equipped with a temperature management system, as well as a specific monitoring system that regulates charging.

Lexus is offering a 10-year (or 1,000,000 km) extended battery cover with the UX 300e. Ian Corbett, Head of Lexus Ireland commented: “We are delighted to announce the arrival of the UX300e – our first all-electric Lexus model. We have been able to build upon our experience in developing self-charging electrified vehicles since 2005 to launch a stunning all-electric crossover SUV for the premium segment. We look forward to providing customers with a new 100% electrified option in the Lexus range from 2021.”
