On February 1, over The Pond in the good ol' US of A, the Superbowl XLIX took place between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. This event, while perhaps not to everyone in Europe's taste, nevertheless garners huge viewing audiences and so is a prime space for advertising.
This year, during halftime, car companies once again got in on the act with some high-profile ads to punt out their wares. BMW, Mercedes-AMG and Kia came up with a series of tongue-in-cheek commercials that are worth a quick look.
BMW's trumpets the i3, playing on a famous NBC Today scene from the 1990s when the two hosts were confused by the internet; Merc's ad is a version of the tortoise and the hare, with added AMG GT S goodness; and Kia's involves Pierce Brosnan in an unusual film pitch.
For our money, the Kia ad is the best, if only because you know fine well that Pierce won't be keeping the car, but probably will be keeping the sultry brunette...
