Best New SUVS Coming in 2022

Here we round up the new SUVs coming in 2022, from the luxurious to the family friendly.

There have been plenty of new SUVs launched in 2021, but the manufacturers aren't stopping there.

Alfa Romeo Tonale

New small SUV will have elegant lines like the larger Stelvio. Under the skin its Jeep Renegade-sourced running gear will be tuned for a sportier drive to take on the likes of the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

Audi Q6 e-tron

Adding the Q6 means Audi's 'Q' SUVs will have all numbers covered from two to eight. More importantly, it introduces the company's new electric car platform.

BMW iX1

An all-electric X1 will rival the likes of the Volvo XC40 Recharge and Mercedes EQA. Expect it to use similar tech to the larger iX3.

Dacia Bigster

Dacia Bigster

Bigger than a Duster, that's largely what the name means, but this seven-seat SUV will stick to the company's formula of offering tremendous value for money.

Kia Sportage

New Sportage goes for bold with a distinctive new look to match the platform-sharing Hyundai Tucson. Expect the same range of hybrid-assisted petrol engines, too.

Mercedes EQE SUV

There are electric EQ versions of the GLA, GLB and GLC, so an electric GLE is the next logical step. The new SUV will share its underpinnings with the similarly named EQE saloon.

Mercedes EQS SUV

Electrified Mercedes SUVs don't stop there, because a luxury off-roader using the same tech as the EQS electric limousine is also due to appear.

Nissan X-Trail

The seven-seat version of the Qashqai is already on sale in some markets, and it'll hit these shores in 2022. Expect the same range of petrol and hybrid powertrains as the Qashqai, too.

Range Rover

New Ranger Rover will come as a hybrid, plug-in or, at a later date, as a full-electric luxury SUV. The look is an evolution of what's come before, while the car's limo-like luxury and excellent off-road ability will carry over.

Toyota bZ4X

Toyota bZ4X

Angular bZ4X is built on a dedicated EV platform called e-TNGA. It will rival the likes of the Volkswagen ID.4, although few technical details of the car have been released.

Toyota Corolla Cross

As its name suggests, the Cross is the off-road counterpart to the Corolla hatch, so slots between the Yaris Cross and RAV4 in Toyota's hybrid SUV line-up.

Volkswagen Taigo

Volkswagen Taigo

The all-new Taigo is a trendy SUV Coupé with a sporty character that's closely related to the Polo and T-Cross. It will host all of the latest Volkswagen technology and is expected to offer similar trims to that of the T-Roc and T-Cross.
