Women more impressed by 'green car' owners

Lads forget the Ferrari; if you want to pull get a Prius.

It is often said that, while women are from Venus, men are from Mars. Well it seems that us men have been reading a dodgy Venutian phrase book, as the latest survey reveals that the commonly held belief of women being impressed by sports cars is a fallacy.

According to a poll by Motors.co.uk in Britain women are more likely to be impressed by the keys to a Nissan LEAF or Toyota Prius being dropped casually on the bar than those of a Ferrari or Aston Martin. Drivers of such 'green cars' are seen to be conscientious, intelligent and safe motorists, which is much more preferable than the arrogant, self-centred and dangerous-on-the-road owners of performance cars (their words, not ours).

This information is definitely lost in translation between the sexes, as, of the 2,000 adults polled, some 48 per cent of men were convinced that a sports car would make them more attractive to the opposite sex.

The fairer sex also felt that owners of cars such as the Ford Mondeo and Volkswagen Passat were hard working and dependable while owners of Volkswagen Golf-sized hatchbacks are viewed as modest and safe on the road.

It is not all bad news for men though as it seems the women are picking up mixed signals too. One third of the male respondents said they thought women driving SUVs were arrogant and rude.

As a happily married father of two I am going to avoid the impending rush to Nissan and Toyota dealerships by going for a drive in my Ferrari. Byeeeeee!
