Subaru gets in a spin

Subaru BRZ snatches record for ‘Tightest 360-degree Spin’ at car show.

If you’re one of those people who think there’s a Guinness World Record for everything – and it annoys you – then look away now.

If you’re a Subaru fan who likes close car control and record-breaking stunts… then don’t look away now.

The BRZ, Subaru’s rear-wheel drive coupé, is now a record-holding vehicle after it performed the ‘Tightest 360-degree Spin’ at the Autosport International Show over in the UK in January.

Alastair Moffatt was the daredevil behind the wheel as he broke the old 2.5-metre best and he’s a man with two more exciting titles, which are ‘Tightest Reverse Parallel Park’ and ‘Tightest Parallel Park’. So he’s the man you want driving if you’re in one of those fearsomely tight underground Parisian car parks in something expensive, then – he wouldn’t scratch it.

With traction control off and the anti-lock brakes disengaged, Moffat went for the doughnut and said: “The Subaru BRZ was the perfect car in which to do it; light, highly manoeuvrable and easy to control. It’s great to have another record to my name.”

You can watch him in action right here.
