Skoda Ireland reveals new OCTAVIA details

The new Skoda OCTAVIA will go on sale in Ireland from 8th of June 2020, with prices estimated to start from less than €29,000

The new Skoda OCTAVIA will go on sale in Ireland from 8th of June 2020, with prices estimated to start from less than €29,000. The OCTAVIA has been a popular model with Irish motorists since it was first launched in 1998, and the latest model promises more space, technology and style than ever before.

The new third generation OCTAVIA is wider than its predecessor and boasts even more boot space, while design highlights include sharper headlights, new LED taillights and a restyled front apron. The COMBI model (pictured) makes a return and it offers up to 640 litres of boot space, which is the largest in its class.

Inside, the OCTAVIA boasts a revamped interior with a new two-spoke steering wheel, a redesigned dashboard and a new freestanding digital display. Other highlights include ambient LED lighting which is customisable in ten different colours, and a standard 4.2-inch colour driver’s display. The OCTAVIA offers a choice of infotainment systems from 8.25 to ten inches in size, while a range-topping Columbus 10.25-inch system is available with a Virtual Cockpit digital display on high specification models.

The new OCTAVIA is offered with what Skoda claims is the most efficient and eco-friendly range of engines it has ever offered in the range, with a choice of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains. The 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines feature mild-hybrid technology when equipped with DSG transmission, while the plug-in hybrid OCTAVIA iV offers the lowest emissions output in the range.

The OCTAVIA will be available in Ireland from early June and while specifications have yet to be finalised, the 1.5-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel will be the first available engines. Prices have yet to be confirmed but are expected to start under €29,000 for the OCTAVIA hatchback 2.0-litre TDI in entry Ambition specification.
