Paris Motor Show 2018

The Paris motor show kicked off on Tuesday 2nd of October and runs until the 14th of October, here’s our list of the most exciting cars revealed.

The Paris motor show kicked off on Tuesday 2nd of October and runs until the 14th of October. Probably the biggest event on the European motoring calendar, the Paris Motor Show allows the world’s leading car manufacturers to demonstrate their latest and upcoming products including concept cars, upcoming models and future technology.

Although there were a number of manufacturers not in attendance this year, the show delivered the goods with some big reveals and launches over the first two days. Here’s our list of the most exciting cars revealed at the Paris Motor Show 2018:

  

BMW 3 Series

New BMW 3 Series

Probably the highlight of this year’s show BMW revealed a new version of its biggest selling car, the 3 Series. This is the seventh generation 3 Series Saloon to go on the market which goes on sale in March 2019.

The new 3 Series will host a array of new technology, advanced safety kit and will also include a plug -in hybrid version for the first time in the models history.

The design of the newest model has also taken huge steps forward with a new look kidney grille, new headlights, a new bumper and new lights at the rear. The car itself is a little longer, wider and slightly taller than the previous model.

 

Audi A1

Audi revealed a new version of its smallest car, the A1. The new model is longer, wider and lower than the previous A1 and will only be available as a 5-door.  The newest model will be open for orders in November and is set to rival the likes of the BMW 1 Series, Ford Fiesta and Mini Hatch.

The new A1 comes with a range of petrol and Diesel engines with three different trim levels: SE, Sort and S Line. There will also be an S1 model joining the range in 2019 that is expected to have 230 horsepower.

 

Porsche 911 Speedster

Porsche unveiled a concept of a limited addition 911 speedster to commemorate the brand’s 70th birthday. Just 1,948 units will be made, reflecting the first Porsche 356 speedster that was registered back in 1948, to which the car is styled on.

The engine is a naturally-aspirated flat-six with “more than 500 horsepower”, and a rev limit of 9,000rpm. 

 

VinFast

David Beckham VinFast Cars

Football icon David Beckham teamed up with Miss Vietnam to unveil a range of new cars from a brand new Vietnamese car manufacturer ‘VinFast. The company revealed the new Lux A2.0 Saloon and the Lux SA2.0 SUV.

The cars have been designed by Italian design house Pininfarina –best known for its work with Ferrari – and much of the engineering has been done with BMW.

VinFast plans to start exporting cars in 2020 with Europe as its long term sales goal, but will begin selling in the fast-growing Vietnamese market for the short term.

 

Peugeot e-Legend Concept

Peugeot managed to put together a mix of both its past and future in their latest concept the e-Legend. The retro look takes us back to the early days of Peugeot resembling the 505 coupe from the 60s. But this car is not as it seems, the fully electric, autonomous model takes a peek into the future with new breath-taking technology throughout.

There are sadly no plans to bring the e-Legend into production, but some of the technology could be used in future Peugeot cars.

 

Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2

Ferrari unveiled not one, but two limited edition cars at the Paris Motor Show this year. The SP1 and SP2 are part of the brands new ‘Icona’ line-up which takes us back to the Ferrari Barchettas of the 1950’s.

Both cars will incorporate the companies most powerful V12 engine that delivers 800 horsepower, with a top speed of 180mph.

These cars will only be available to Ferrari’s loyal customers and will have a price tag of around €3million.  

 

Mercedes-Benz B-Class

Mercedes-Benz B-Class

Mercedes revealed its rival to the likes of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Volkswagen Golf SV. The new B-Class takes similarities from the new A-Class with a slightly taller roofline and more spacious cabin space.

The new model will be available with all the latest Mercedes technology including the firm’s latest MBUX infotainment system – as found in the A-Class – and two digital displays in front of the driver.

 

BMW Z4

Scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of next year the new BMW Z4 debuted to the public at the Paris Motor Show. The two-door, two-seat roadster will be longer, wider and taller than the previous model and reverts back to a soft-top fabric roof rather than the folding metal rood of its predecessor. The fabric roof can be raised or lowered in 10 seconds and at speeds of up to 30mph.

Three engines will be available on the new Z4 ranging between 197 and 340 horsepower.

 

Hyundai i30 Fastback N

Hyundai Fastback i30N

Hyundai Launched a new five-door coupe version of the recently released i30N. Many of the design touches will be familiar from the i30N hatchback, but the redesigned back end features a unique rear bumper including triangular-shaped rear foglamps and a glossy black rear spoiler.

Prices for the i30 Fastback N are yet to be announced by the car should be on sale across Europe before the end of the year.
