Nissan's Note grows a Zorb

Nissan makes its Note uncrashable... Kind of.

What's new?
Nissan has put a Note in a Zorb. And if you're wondering what that is, it's one of those big inflatable balls that people roll down hills in; it's an idea that came from the thrill-seeking land of New Zealand, as if you hadn't guessed.

Stuffing a Note into a sphere with a six-metre diameter and an 18-metre circumference was designed to show off Nissan's Safety Shield technology on the Note - which includes things like Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning and Moving Object Detection, as well as a 360-degree Around View Monitor with self-cleaning rear camera.

'CarZorb', as the gestalt entity came to be known, successfully rolled down a course of steep hills, which you can watch in the two-minute video below. It took two months to build and the sphere alone weighed more than a tonne.

Bastien Schupp, Nissan's vice president for strategy and marketing, said: "The Nissan Note has been carefully engineered to provide motorists with a whole range of technology that creates a protective bubble around you and your car. Our Safety Shield technology in particular is unrivalled among other small family cars.

"Creating a life size CarZorb to highlight the technology is an exciting and memorable way of reminding people about the benefits of Nissan's Safety Shield."
