Opel has confirmed that its new Grandland X will come with a range-topping 177hp 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine in conjunction with a new 'Ultimate' trim line.

The Grandland X has gone on sale in Ireland, but we don't have prices for this new Ultimate model yet. We do know that it has torque of 400Nm and a 126g/km CO2 figure, plus official fuel consumption of 4.8 litres/100km, or 55mpg, and that's with a standard-fit eight-speed automatic transmission. With the 2.0-litre diesel, the Grandland X accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 9.5 seconds. Top speed is 211km/h. In addition, the Grandland X has a maximum (braked) trailer load of 2,000kg.

Standard equipment for the new Ultimate model will include 19-inch alloys and silver coloured roof rails, premium ergonomic seats, leather trim, the Denon premium sound system and "numerous ultra-modern assistance and infotainment systems promise a feel-good factor." Those include OnStar along with the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible Navi 5.0 IntelliLink infotainment system with an eight-inch colour touchscreen. In addition, compatible smartphones can be charged wirelessly. Ultimate trim also features safety kit such as the adaptive AFL LED headlights, and the 360-degree camera and Advanced Park Assist.
