New entry-level BMW X3

There is a new entry point to the BMW X3 range with the sDrive18d model. It is the first rear-wheel drive version of the X3 and boasts the lowest emissions and best fuel economy in the range. Prices are thought to start from about €40,890 for the SE version.

Exterior
Without looking at the badges the 18d is said to be indistinguishable from the 20d model. The SE comes with 17-inch alloy wheels while the M Sport variant rides on 18-inch alloys and has M aerodynamic body styling.

Interior
Leather upholstery is standard, as is a 6.5-inch colour screen. The M Sport package includes sports seats.

Mechanicals
Despite the 18d designation the engine is a 2.0-litre diesel with 143hp and 360Nm. Transmission choices are either six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. In manual form BMW claims 0-100km/h in 9.9 seconds with a top speed of 195km/h. Fuel economy is 55.4mpg (5.1 litres/100km) on the combined cycle with Band B CO2 emissions of 135g/km.

Anything else?
BMW can supply a trailer coupling for customers who wish to use the X3 for towing up to 2,000kg.
