New Skoda Superb arrives in Ireland
Based on the Volkswagen Group's MQB modular platform, the new Superb is 75kg lighter and 28mm longer than its predecessor and packs the latest technology such as SmartLink for both Apple and Android smartphones, an optional Wifi hotspot and an associated app that allows children to 'drive' their own Skoda.
Three different specifications are available from launch: Active, Ambition and Style with standard equipment including dual-zone climate control, seven airbags, Bluetooth, front assist and an electric handbrake with auto hold. The Ambition model receives a colour touchscreen system, bi-Xenon lights with front and rear LEDs, 16-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats and rain sensing wipers. The top Style model comes with satnav, three-zone climate control, 17-inch alloys, a full leather interior and reversing camera. A new range topping trim, L&K, has also been added to the Superb's portfolio. Starting from €39,745, the L&K model is kitted out with 19-inch alloy wheels, a Canton sound system and adaptive suspension, as well as numerous L&K design elements. The range-topper arrives in August, a month before the Combi estate model.
All engines - five petrol and three diesel units - are Euro6 compliant and offer up to 15 per cent better fuel economy than before. The volume seller is expected to be the 120hp 1.6-litre TDI diesel that can now be paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.
"The new Superb is arriving just in time for the 152 plate," commented John Donegan, Brand Director at Skoda Ireland. "The car is exceptional in every way and really needs to be test-driven to be appreciated. We are already receiving queries from prospective fleet buyers for this vehicle, which we are working hard to deliver for July. Customers can also avail of our exceptional PCP Finance packages with rates starting from just 3.9% APR and monthly payments from €289."
