But one American three-year old has just got one step closer to living that dream, thanks to an uncle handy with a hacksaw. When his brother built a new house this sibling decided against conventional flowers or picture frames to congratulate him and built his nephew a bunk bed instead.
Well, we say bunk bed - it’s actually closer to a scale vintage Volkswagen van with a bedframe for a roof. Constructed from scratch to his own design, the 'bedvan' may be made of wood but comes complete with steering wheel, polished hub caps, headlights and even the correct VW roundel on the nose.
Like any old vehicle this one is still undergoing some modifications - new bench-seat futons will take care of the driving position, and in the future a single mattress may be added to the cabin for sleepovers.
