Batman's beast in bricks

Lego knocks up an awesome Tumbler model for you to build - if you've got the patience.

Lego is awesome, OK? There, we've said it. We're adults and yet we love these blocky kits. For instance, as a car fan, you can now buy fantastic sets from the Danes that, after a few hours of construction graft, will result in a classic Mini Cooper, a Volkswagen T1 camper van and even a Mercedes Unimog U400 truck with a crane on the back. And who wouldn't want a massive, blocky Unimog toy in their life?

This, however, is something else. Featuring 1,869 pieces and revealed over at Comic-Con in San Diego (with a US dollars price of $199), this is Batman's Tumbler from the Christopher Nolan trilogy of films, only in Lego form.

If you can keep up with the instruction manuals - which must feature hundreds of steps to build this brute - then you'll end up with a replica of Batman's wheels that is 30cm long, 23cm wide and 13cm high. The set also comes with Batman and Heath Ledger's Joker minifigures, plus a plaque with stats for the 'real-life' machine.

It's a sensational kit and also a model of what could soon be a certified classic - as a new Batmobile will be unveiled in the forthcoming 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' movie, meaning the Tumbler is being retired from the big screen.

So unless you like donning a cape and lots of latex of an evening and patrolling the streets of Gotham, this is the only way you're going to own a Tumbler. In our eyes, that's no bad thing.
