Audi unveils all-new Q7

What's new?

Say hello to the new Audi Q7, which is getting an early reveal before its Detroit Auto Show debut thanks to images being leaked online early this morning. Featuring styling cues lifted from the recently updated Q3 (new narrow headlamps, new hexagonal grille), the Q7 will ride on a heavily updated MLB platform (also found under the A6 and A7), which is said to be some 360kg lighter than the outgoing Q7's. That should give the core 3.0-litre TDI V6 diesel a good chance of being much more efficient, and you'll be able to choose from three power outputs up to and including the 313hp BiTurbo.

Is there more?

Audi will also debut its diesel e-tron plug-in hybrid powertrain on the Q7, which should cut CO2 emissions to incredibly low levels for a big SUV. It won't stop there either - Audi is said to be planning a lower, lighter, leaner Q8. It will be a rival to the likes of the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE and, thanks to its all-electric drivetrain, the upcoming Tesla Model X.
