We've all seen the super-rapid pit crews in Formula 1, changing wheels on the race cars in the merest blink of an eye, but that's all done with compressed air guns and automatic jacks; pfft.
So how quickly do you think you could change all four tyres on a standard car - say, a Ford Focus hatchback - using only manual hand tools?
How about in less than a minute? It might be beyond the wit of your local tyre fitter on an out-of-town industrial estate, but this quartet of German mechanics from car parts supply firm Kfzteile24 managed it in 59.62 seconds - smashing the previous best by more than 24 seconds.
Obviously, it looks like the wheel bolts were pretty well lubricated, the 'new' tyres were already fitted to the wheels going back on the Ford and we're not sure how tightly the bolts were torqued after the wheel replacement, but nevertheless, this is an impressive feat. Cue loads of clichés about ruthless Teutonic efficiency and so on...
