2019 has already seen car manufacturers introduce a number of all-electric models to the Irish Market, such as the Audi E-Tron, Kia e-Niro, Jaguar I-Pace and Hyundai Kona EV. This surge is expected to continue in 2020 with even more all-electric models set to hit Irish roads.

Mercedes-Benz EQC

Mercedes-Benz EQC Electric VehicleOffering a luxury all-electric drive, the Mercedes EQC certainly stands apart from the other electric cars on this list. The EQC can offer up to 470-kilometre range via electric motors on the front and rear axle that work together respectively to transform the electric energy saved in the battery into mechanical energy, thus creating an output of 300 kW (408 hp).

Volkswagen I.D3

With a choice of battery sizes from 58kWh to 77kWh, drivers can rely on a range of up to 550 kilometres. Opel Corsa-e

Opel Corsa e Electric Car IrelandOpel starts their electric era with the new Corsa-e, blending their popular city-car with exciting new technology. The new Corsa-e is expected to have a range of up to 330 kilometres, along with a quick-charging battery that will charge by up to 80% in just 30 mins.

Tesla Model Y

Tesla Model Y Ireland Based on the Model 3, Tesla’s Model Y SUV is due to be released in late 2020. The Model Y sits just below the Model X in terms of size but like every Tesla, it is designed to be the safest vehicle in its class. The Model Y can carry up to seven adults with an optional third-row as well as plenty of room for storage. With a whopping 540 kilometre range, the Model Y has the longest electric range of any sport utility vehicle on the road.  

BMW iX3

BMW iX3 Electric IrelandAs the rise of the electric SUV gathers pace, it is no surprise to see that German giant BMW is set to launch their own electric SUV, in the form of the iX3. Styled on the current X3, the iX3 is expected to come equipped with a 70kWh battery that offers a 400-kilometre range.

MINI Electric

MINI Electric Car Ireland MINI’s new electric take on their iconic city car is due to arrive in Irish showrooms in March 2020. The brand's first all-electric vehicle combines the iconic design and sporty handling with a 230-kilometre range battery.

Audi e-Tron Sportback

Audi E-Tron Electric Car IrelandFollowing on from Audi’s e-Tron SUV, the e-Tron Sportback is due to arrive in 2020. Based on the same mechanical underpinnings as the SUV the e-Tron Sportback will sport a coupe-like design. Although exact specifications are yet to be released the e-Tron Sportback is expected to be equipped with a 95kWh battery with a range of over 490 kilometres.

Polestar 2

Polestar 2 Electric Car IrelandVolvo's standalone electrified brand Polestar is set to launch its first-ever all-electric vehicle, the Polestar 2, in 2020. With an expected range of 500 kilometres, this 4-door saloon is expected to rival the Tesla Model 3.

Peugeot e-208 and e-2008

Peugeot 208 2008 Electric Cars Ireland Peugeot will be launching not one but two new electric cars in the form of an e-208 city car and e-2008 SUV. Both cars will be equipped with a 50kWh battery with rapid charging technology. The e-208 offers almost 340 kilometres of range and is said to rapid charge to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes, while the e-2008 will offer a 310-kilometre range.
