Carzone Review:

4.2 / 5

The Skoda Octavia remains one of the most-searched cars on Carzone and indeed one of Skoda’s best-selling models, and for good reason too, as it offers an excellent mix of practicality, quality and low running costs that few of its rivals can match. A new facelifted version has been launched for 2017 with revised headlights and other styling details, more interior technology and improved safety standards too, though it’s hard to spot the differences between the new and old Octavia from the outside. Competition in this space is tough, but the Octavia continues to shine through as the best value for money.

  • Highly practical
  • Sharpened styling
  • Economical engine range
  • Styling hasn’t changed
  • No hybrid choice

New Skoda Octavia Range

As ever, there is a choice of body styles in the new Octavia with the regular hatchback and larger combi models, along with the sporty RS range for those seeking high performance and sportier looks. Key engine choices include the small 1.2 TSI petrol unit which packs more power than you might think, along with the best-selling 1.6 TDI diesel which is the default choice for high economy. Trim levels include Active, Ambition, Style and the range-topping L&K model, while standard specification is quite good with Bluetooth and voice control, daytime running lights, electric and heated mirrors and rear parking sensors featured across the range. Prices for the new 2017 Skoda Octavia start from €19,750, putting it at a lower price point than its key rivals in the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus and Opel Astra.
