Well, it depends on the age of the Impreza you’re talking about, but there are a couple of things to bear in mind. First off, take your time and track one down that hasn’t been modified or messed with — the basic WRX or STI were bonkers fast and brilliant to drive when they came out of the factory, so didn’t need any modifications. Secondly, if you’re serious about your performance cars and fancy yourself a bit of a collector, then it could be worth tracking down an STI right enough, or better yet a Richard Burns RB5, which was without question the ultimate of the original Imprezas. If you just want an affordable, fun, reliable fast car, then find a really good WRX with full history and you’ll be grand as it’s more than quick enough for most purposes.
