They did use the same engines, yes, but with all engine swaps you need to be very careful about the wiring looms and sensors and possibly even the ignition keys etc. as they're sometimes programmed to work together in one configuration and might not work even though the engine physically fits in. Make sure you check with the mechanic doing the job that they're happy to do it before buying the engine.
