Hi I have viewed a 2011 Peugeot 3008 1.6 diesel family car. I want to no is there any common problems with engine, electrics and so on and is it reliable as I use it for work. It's a lovely car but I need to no is it worth the buy.
Hi Lisa,
The first-gen 3008’s big problem is something you’ve touched on – the electrics. They’re mostly known to fail for a variety of issues related to the electrical system, but good news: you also said the car you’ve looked at is a lovely example, so there’s every likelihood any electrical gremlins have been eradicated. In general, the better condition a 3008 Mk1 is, the better it will have been looked after during its life and so there’s less chance you’ll have a problem with it going forward. There were a few recalls issued on the 3008 early in its life, but they should have been rectified by now, so – given you’re looking at the 1.6-litre turbodiesel model – you’re back to the usual stuff to check on used diesels: any signs of blue or white smoke from the exhaust mean you should walk away, while watch for rough running, which might indicate an expensive injector problem.
