Will WLTP affect prices?
What will the effect of WTLP 2 be on car prices next January? Visited a large sealer yesterday and was told that prove of the model I was looking at was expected to rise by up to €7000 in January - suggested I buy this year instead to avoid the price hike. Is there more information on this available.

Hi there,
Put simply, if the Irish government makes no change to the taxation system then yes, we could see some very big price increases due to higher rates of VRT. It varies depending on the model of course.
However, I don't expect it will come to that, and that a Budget announcement will ease the situation a little.
Of course, that's just my opinion, and the government is saying nothing about what it has planned...
