Will this Land Rover cost more to run?

Thinking of buying a landrover 3 ltr ... trading in my jag 2.2 ltr .... my question ? Will the extra engine cost way more to roon ? Even 50% more to run im guessing ?

Our answer:

Hi Kieran,

It’s difficult to say exactly, because we’d need to know the exact model of Land Rover 3.0-litre TDV6 and also the Jaguar you’ve got, to work out their CO2 outputs and then at least have a figure for the motor tax increase every year; yes, the TDV6 will be more to tax. And it’ll be more to run too, as a Land Rover is a much heavier, less aerodynamic vehicle than a Jaguar saloon – also, there are six cylinders in the Landie and just four in the Jag. But whether the Land Rover will be 50 per cent more expensive to run or not is hard to say, without knowing the exact models you’re talking about.
