As you've discovered, there's just no demand for older petrol cars. There is no sign of a scrappage scheme as yet, but the government traditionally keeps its cards to its chest on such things and nothing is likely to be announced before the budget presentation in the autumn. Then, it is expected that there will be incentives for car buyers to go electric, but nobody knows what those incentives will be.
