Hi have a 2011 Mazda 3, 1.6. Thinking of moving to 2014 but the mazda 3 I'm checking out is 2.2. Will this mean a huge jump in fuel? Thanks Sally
Hi Sally,
Not massively. The 2.2-litre MZD engine is pretty frugal and, of course, the 3 is relatively compact and light, which all helps. If you’re moving from the 1.6 diesel model, I think you can expect a small fuel consumption penalty, but probably no more than around 5mpg on average. For reference, the official combined fuel economy figure for the 2.2 diesel Mazda3 was 68mpg.
