While it's impossible for us to know, I would be surprised if you'll get compensation for this. If you have been a loyal customer through the years in terms of main dealer servicing, etc, it's possible that Mercedes or the dealer will subsidise the work, but I suspect that's the best you'll get. Still, no harm in trying. Bring the car into your dealer right away for an inspection.
