Will I pay VRT importing my car?

Will I pay VRT importing my car?

Bought car in northern ireland. Lived there with my sister. Taxed, insured and got it MOT. My only proof of address is my tax and insurance letters Will I have to pay VRT.

Our answer:

Hi Mary,

Assuming you're intending to move to the South with the car, and you can prove that you taxed and insured it in the North for at least 12 months, then you shouldn't have to pay VRT. A full guide can be found in the official Transfer of residence website.
