I am thinking of trading in my vw tiguan 171 diesel and I am wondering do I go hybrid or diesel again. I travel long distances along country roads so electric isn't an option. I am looking at the Toyota chr sol. Any advice would be grateful.
Hi Ray,
The C-HR Hybrid is a good choice if you’re going to go hybrid, because it’s one of Toyota’s series-parallel models and so you don’t need to charge it. Although Toyota quotes 3.8 litres/100km for the C-HR Hybrid, we found it’ll return more like 5.1 litres/100km in regular driving – not bad for a petrol-powered SUV, but perhaps not what you’d get from a really good, really modern, really clean diesel. It's a closer call than ever. The longer the distance and the higher the speeds, then the balance tips in favour of diesel.
