Hi Paddy,
Old Polos actually do cling on to a bit of value, so there might still be some worth in it. First off, as it’s been off the road for a bit, you’ll need to put some effort in. Get it taxed and put it through the NCT, and see if it needs any work doing. Big expensive jobs? Forget it then – try and sell it for scrap. But if it’s all working fine then you might be able to get around €2,000 for it as a private sale. Trading it in would be even better as most of the car brands are currently offering so-called ‘scrappage’ deals and you can get as much as €4,500 off a new car, depending on the make and the model.
