Will an Evoque cost me lots to run?

Will an Evoque cost me lots to run?

I drive a Renault Capture and am on a low income. I have a chance to trade it for a Land Rover Evoque both 2017 as a straight swap with a trusted friend. Is this advisable given I'm on a tight budget and very low income. Are the maintenance costs much higher with the Evoque and will I be getting myself into debt just for the chance to drive my dream car. I'll never be able to afford one again but I don't want to have huge service, maintenance and diesel bills. I would love advice.

Our answer:

Hi Julia,

We understand your desire to own an Evoque - it's an alluring car for sure. But sadly, we're going to advise that, given your situation, this might not be the most sensible decision. Even if nothing ever goes wrong with the Evoque (and that'd would be unusual for a car that's now over nine years old), it will cost more to fuel, insure, tax and maintain than your Renault.
