Why is insurance difficult for Jap import?
With regard to Insurance what is the issue in not quoting for ,say, a Japanese import which is not yet registered in Ireland.

Some insurance companies simply don’t like issuing quotes or cover for a Japanese import, as in some cases the cars are quite different to the models sold in Europe and therefore are something of an unknown quantity in actuarial terms. The preponderance of ‘boy racer’ cars being imported from Japan also has something of an effect, but your best bet is simply the old advice to shop around, and also to get friendly with a good insurance broker.
