Who determines the purchase price of a classic?
Classic car imported. Hi, if the vat on a classic car is based on the purchase price + delivery/shipping, who determines the purchase price? Surely this could be reduced by the seller & purchaser to reduce liability or is there something I’m missing? Thanks in advance.

Hi Dan,
I don't believe you're missing anything. The system seems designed around the importer having an official sales invoice/receipt, which clearly wouldn't be the case in a completely private sale. It's probably worth checking with Revenue what proof of purchase they require in that situation before you commit to the process though...
