Which Yaris is better on fuel?

is the toyota yaris 1.5 harder on fuel thank the toyota 1.0

Our answer:

Hi Martina,

If you’re talking about a straight petrol versus petrol comparison, then yes, the 1.0-litre Yaris is – on paper – the more economical. It has a quoted consumption of 4.7 litres/100km with 107g/km of CO2 emissions, while the 1.5-litre model uses 5.1 litres/100km and emits 116g/km as a manual, or 4.9 litres/100km and 112g/km as an automatic. Bear in mind, though, that your driving style and regular commutes will, in circumstances where the figures are so close like this, affect this – if you’re regularly out on the motorway and driving the car harder, the 1.0-litre will need to be worked more thoroughly, so will likely be less efficient than the 1.5. In and around town, the 1.5 will be the choice.

If you’re talking about the 1.0-litre petrol versus the 1.5 Hybrid Yaris, though, the Hybrid is the winner. It is claimed to do as little as 3.7 litres/100km and its 84g/km CO2 rating will result in it being (marginally) cheaper to tax year-on-year.
