Which of these Passats to go for?

Hi, I am looking to buy a VW Passat. I was looking at a 07 highline, but it has 170,000 km on it. Would you say this is too much? it would cost 6750 and tax is 710. My other option is a 08 Passat highline with 100,00 km on it for 8k, which is a bit over my budget but tax is only 390. Could you offer any advice, please/ From an aesthetics point of view, the 07 is black with cream interior (which id prefer), where as the 08 is silver with dark interior. thanks, John.

Hi John,

Ok, there are going to be two deciding factors here. The first is the motor tax. Are you going to be happy budgeting for €700-odd tax every year for the next few years?

After that, it's down to condition and history. Buy the one that's been better cared for - mileage isn't so important if the service book is fully stamped-up.
