Which Mondeo to go for?

Hi. Would it be safe to buy Mondeo Titanium X Sport MK4 2.0CDTI 163Hp form 2011 with only 144000km on the clock. Second owner have been driving the car for last 6 years and only covered 32000km. Is it worth to give the car a try or should I be ready to for DPF issues as the car was mostly used in short distances? What other potential problems could occur. The car is in factory condition on the outside. Or maybe it's better to get same from car from 2013 with 250000km on the clock? Thank You Martin

Our answer:

Hi Martin,

If the DPF light isn't already on in that car (and check that it is working), then I'd not be put off solely for that reason. You can give it a good drive to ensure the DPF is cleaned through for yourself. If the rest of the car is in great condition then that's a really good sign. The 2013 car you mention has very high mileage and while it may not have DPF issues, the rest of the car has covered a lot of distance already so we'd expect mechanical bills sooner than in the low-mileage example.

I'd suggest taking both for a test drive and going with your gut instinct.
