Which large saloon good for new driver?
Considering helping our 6foot 2 inch son buy his first car. He’s 19 and passed his test and driving a year. Annual mileage approx 10,000 km. He’s interested in a larger saloon. Would diesel or petrol be appropriate. Driving secondary roads and motorways

Hi Karina,
We recommend Skoda a lot, but that’s because it makes great cars. Either of the Octavia or the Superb would suit a tall driver and they’re well-specified vehicles without being terrifically expensive; you should find plenty of them on the used market, with low-powered engines available to make it cheaper to insure for a 19-year-old. If budget is no barrier, try a Volvo S90, but be aware that’s a relatively new car so won’t be cheap, even if it is pre-owned.
