Which family estate to go for?
What would be a reliable used family estate diesel car that can tolerate high mileage.

You're not told us your budget, which is a key factor in the decision.
Speaking vaguely, I'd suggest a Mondeo Estate would be a good starting point, then the VW Passat and Skoda Superb. Not so obvious, but very good options are also the Kia Optima and Hyundai i40.
