Hi, I'm buying a new Ford Fiesta (Titanium model). I am unsure which is the best engine size to go for 1.25 (60) or the new 1.0 (65) EcoBoost engine. Most important thing to me is fuel economy and longevity (and as little maintenance as possible).
Would love your opinion.
Many thanks,
Nicola
Hi Nicola,
We really love the little three-cylinder EcoBoost engine, with its rev-happy nature and raspy exhaust note. Even in 60hp non-turbo form it feels willing and fun to drive, and is just basically lovely. That said, it’s a new engine design and there’s always the worry that all the bugs have not been quite worked out. With that in mind, and given that the 1.25-litre engine has been around since Liam Neeson was a boy, it’s probably just slightly likely to be the more trouble-free option.
