Which diesel hatch for €12k?
Hello, I drive a 200km daily work commute and I am a looking at a 2014-2016 diesel hatchback i30 as a potential option in place of petrol car. Any advice whether on car or other models would be greatly appreciated. Budget approx €12k. Thanks.

You’re doing this all right so far – you’ve picked the right sort of car for that daily commute. The i30’s fine and there’s nothing majorly wrong with it, and you could also look at its close cousin, the Kia Ceed. There are also the usual suspects, like the Ford Focus TDCi or Opel Astra CDTi, while one of our perennial faves – the Skoda Octavia TDI – should be in your budget. However, seek out a Mazda3 2.2-litre diesel; it’s a cracking car to drive and look at, and it’ll soak up that commute each day no problem.
