You have huge choice at that price point. You could go nearly new and get an Octavia Combi estate for example, which is an excellent choice for your needs as you've described them or you could get an older premium model such as a 2019 BMW 5 Series Touring, which is also a lovely car (though would cost more to maintain). I'd certainly advocate for an estate over an SUV as estates are generally more comfortable on the road, more efficient and more enjoyable to drive. They also generally have bigger boots.
