I’m tempted to say a Skoda Yeti could be the best choice. It’s tall enough to be able to deal with the worst surfaces, it’s compact enough to squeeze between the hedges and it’s still frugal enough to make it economical to run day-to-day. Plus, it’s reliable, roomy and good to drive.
