Which city cars to look at?

What cars would you recommend for low mileage (mostly) city driving < 5000 km a year. I've had an Opel astra SX1 for past 10 years. I found the back window to be very small (difficult to park) and the seats are low (passengers complain getting in/out, so I'd like a change. Mostly only one passenger. I don't want anything too expensive.

Our answer:

Hi Catherine,

Your explanation would normally direct us almost unerringly to one brand of car – Smart, with either its Fortwo or Forfour city machines. However, Smart is not officially sold in Ireland so it’ll be hard to get hold of used examples. However, do not despair, as the Renault Twingo is exactly the same vehicle but in a French frock, so check it out. Alternatively, any city car would be ideal for you, so also consider the Volkswagen up!/SEAT Mii/Skoda Citigo, the Toyota Aygo/Peugeot 108/Citroen C1, the Hyundai i10 or the Kia Picanto.
